He is the eye of Formula 1 and one of the most important motor sports photographers and outstanding chronicler of motor racing.
His first car race is the 1000 km at the Nurburgring in 1962, that's where Rainer W. Schlegelmilch portrays the racers at the final exam for the Bavarian State School of Photography in Munich.
After graduation, he established a studio for advertising photography in Frankfurt, but his passion remain the big prizes of Formula 1, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Targa Florio and many other sports car events. Rainer W. Schlegelmilch photographed for prestigious publications such as "Auto, Motor und Sport", "Powerslide", "Sports Car Graphic", "Car & Driver" and "Road & Track" and "Auto Revue". He is the editor of many picture books about Formula 1 and sports car racing, but also about car brands like "Mercedes", "BMW", "Aston Martin", "Ferrari", "Porsche" and British sports cars.
For the first time Rainer W. Schlegelmilch shows a selection of his most precious photographs from 1962 to 1969 as laser exposures on barite in a limited and signed edition. Besides well-known motifs, less well-known works in various formats will be offered in this exhibition.
